Zimbabwe vs Scotland, World Cup Qualifiers 2018 – Betting Tips

We are into the final day of Group Stage in ICC World Cup Qualifiers and its not over yet. Nepal are already out of the tournament, but could possibly have the largest impact on who qualifies for the World Cup. Afghanistan did not have a great start to the tournament and needed a big win against Nepal. Additionally, they want Nepal to beat Hong Kong. In the other game of the group, Zimbabwe is taking on Scotland at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo. Although they both have qualified for the next stage, this game carries an equal importance, if not more, as the other games. The points earned from this game will be taken forward and count towards the calculation of final standings.

Zimbabwe

Despite Zimbabwe and Scotland bring already through to the next stage, expect no respite from any end whatsoever. A win here will be worth two points in the next stage and could be very important as far as qualification for to the next stage is concerned. Zimbabwe have won all games coming to this game with the last one coming against Hong Kong.

Batting first, Zimbabwe scored 263 riding on contributions from little contributions form almost all of their batsmen. They could have scored a lot more had their late-order batted more responsibly. Batting first, Zimbabwe raced to 137 in the first 27 overs, but could only get 126 in the next 30 as the pitch got slower.

Zimbabwe have been brilliant in their recent run which started during the later of their home series against Afghanistan. It’s been some time since Brendan Taylor has joined the team back but the results are now clearly reflecting the experience and skill he brings to the team which has started to rub on the other players. Sikandar Raza has been superb with both bat and ball and a lot will depend on him for Zimbabwe to go into the next stage with one leg up.

Scotland

It all started in their first game for Scotland when Calum McLeod went bonkers over Rashid Khan. He was not only able to read him to good effect, but also hit him out of the park. That was arguably the most difficult game Scotland had to face while coming into the tournament. In that order, their game against Zimbabwe is arguably their most difficult game and all players would have to come good for them to garner two important points.

They ensured their spot in the super six by a win in their previous match against Nepal. Kyle Koetzer scored his 27th List A fifty to take his team home while chasing a small but tricky total. Matt Cross and Calum McLeod failed to post any substantial contribution against Nepal.

Bowlers bowled tight lines and accurate lengths to restrict Nepal to a modest total. A few runs more on the board could have made the difference. Stuart Whittingham and Safyaan Sharif bowled with discipline to cut through the Nepalese top order. All in all, Scotland have passed all the tests thrown at them in the tournament so far and they’ll be looking forward to this as well.

Our Prediction

This game carries a lot of importance. A win here will put the winner among the top three teams in the points table for the super six stage. Considering the recent form, experience and the team on paper Zimbabwe are more likely to win here.
